1. What is Levemir®?
Levemir® is a long-acting insulin for people with diabetes who need to control high blood sugar. Levemir® can be used once or twice a day and provides insulin coverage for up to 24 hours.

2. Are there any interactions with other drugs?
Certain medicines may increase or decrease blood sugar or your sensitivity to insulin. Ask your doctor before starting any medications so you can discuss how they may affect your insulin dose. Make sure to tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription drugs.

3. Can my food and drink consumption affect my insulin needs?
As with all insulins, the amount and type of food and drink (ie; alcoholic and non alcoholic) that you consume may affect your insulin needs. Both directly affect your blood sugar levels. Talk to your doctor if you change your diet. He or she will tell you how to adjust your dosage.

4. How do I take Levemir®?
Your doctor will tell you how to take Levemir®, based on your individual needs. If you think you need to adjust your insulin dose because of illness, new medication, stress, change in diet, or change in activity level, make sure to talk to your doctor. When using your insulin pen, make sure you use Levemir® FlexPen® with the green button at the bottom. View our Levemir® FlexPen® Demo to see how Levemir® works.

5. How is Levemir® dispensed?
Levemir® is available in a prefilled, disposable 3 mL (300-unit) Levemir® FlexPen®. You’ll receive a box of 5 disposable Levemir® prefilled insulin pens with each prescription. The amount of time each Levemir® FlexPen® lasts will depend on your insulin needs. When you’re done with each Levemir® FlexPen®, place it in the trash and start another one. In addition to Levemir® FlexPen®, Levemir® also comes in 10 mL vials.

6. What should I avoid while taking Levemir®?
Alcohol, including beer and wine, may increase and lengthen the risk of hypoglycemia (too low blood sugar) when you take Levemir®.
